JHClothes - who are we and what do we do

Who are JHClothes?

Jh Clothes is a brand created for one reason. Art is all around us and appreciation of art is a window to living a more beautiful and fuller life. The more people realise this, the more happy people there will be.

Full of stunning, detailed, historically significant, emotional, and moving imagery, art conveys messages in a way unlike any other forum. As Robin Williams said in Dead Poets Society, "Medicine, law, business - these are all noble pursuits necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, and love; these are what we stay alive for."

Art is beauty, it is poetry, and it drips with romance and love. For example, Dog Mourning Its Little Master (1866), by Archer depicts a dog by a child's bed. The mourning, the love, the story that is portrayed by a singular frame in time is astounding. You can look at a collection of oils on canvas and feel a fraction of what the painter might have felt looking upon the scene. The loss of a child, the feeling of emptiness, the realisation that your dog has no idea where its best friend has gone.

Portrait of an unknown woman by Kramskoi elicited backlash, outrage and fury when it was unveiled. The Mona Lisa has inspired confusion and absolute obsession, Le Déjeuner sur l’Herbe spoke strongly to women at the time (1862) about their desire for independence and power.

Not only this, but art has been a driver and inspiration throughout history. Venus at Her Mirror (1647) by Velasquez is what 'The Venus effect' is inspired by; the camera shot where actors or subjects appear to be looking at themselves in a mirror, but in fact in reality at the angle would be looking at the reflection of the camera/painter. This allows you to see them looking away, but still see their face in the mirror to get a full view of their emotion, when technically this is impossible.

Art allows you to actually feel the emotions experienced by the painter or ones close to them, a feeling or emotion that otherwise might never have been possible for you to feel.

If feeling is what makes us alive - then art is a window to live more than we ever could have. We each have a story, and in that story we have hardships, and highs, and lessons. From paintings, as from books, we can learn from others, we can experience through others, and we can live a fuller life than we could ever imagined on our own.

This passion, mixed with a love of feeling good in your own skin and the incredible high you get from knowing you're wearing your favorite outfit, led to the birth of JHClothing. Standing for Jocund Horripilation (happy goosebumps), we stand for high quality, fashionable, unique, and beautiful pieces. Inspired by some of the greatest artists in history, each with their own completely unique story, you can be proud and confident in every purchase.
