Faded Baggy fit Van Gogh Hoodie | Skeleton with a Burning Cigarette
'Skeleton smoking a cigarette' was a juvenile joke by Van Gogh and a way to show his understanding of the human anatomy, painted early in 1886 while studying at the art academy in Antwerp.
Some take it to be an observation about mortality, perhaps even a commentary on the dangers of smoking, but Van Gogh was an avid smoker and the fact that painting skeletons was not on the syllabus at the time suggests this was done for fun outside of the classroom, where deeper meaning would not be on the forefront of Van Gogh's mind.
